Chestnut Square Historic Village brings Collin County history to life!  Living History Days are free to the public and provide glimpses into the way people lived in Collin County from 1850-1930.  Chestnut Square’s Living History Group bring history to life through period appropriate costumes, demonstrations and reenactments.  Take a look at some of the images from prior Living History Days. 

May 18 Living History Day featured the Trinity River Desperados (www.trinityriverdesperados.com).  Popular for their gunfight shows at the Dallas Heritage Village, the gunfighters staged two gunfights and several stagecoach robberies.   

September 14 Living History Day that was dedicated to Scouts has been cancelled due to weather.  All Scout activities have been moved to our October 12 Living History Day. 

October Living History Day will begin with the Farmers’ Market on Saturday, October 11 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and continue on Sunday from 1:00 – 4:00 P.M. We’ll usher in fall with a Pumpkin Festival! Enjoy music, square dancing and a pumpkin decorating contest!  Pick up a pumpkin at Farmers' Market, decorate it and bring it back on Sunday for our Jack O' Lantern contest.  Admission is free.  Jack O'Lantern contest entry fee is $5.00 (which includes the pumpkin!).  Jack O'Lanterns will be judged in the following age categories:  2-7, 8-51, and adult. Decorated pumpkins should be delivered to the pergola area next to Dixie's Store on the side of Anthony Street.  

The September 14 Living History Days program has been rescheduled as part of the October Living History Day.  Ths event is dedicated to Scouts. Our Living History Group will provide demonstrations and badge workshops to help Scouts earn history related badges. Bring your Boy Scout or Girl Scout troop out from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. to enjoy the day and earn a badge!  As always, admission is free.  Badge workshops are $5.00.   To register for the badge workshops, click one of these links:  Boy Scout Registration or Girl Scout Registration.   We will also have activities for non-scouts such as sewing your own leather coin purse. 

 

The November 9 Living History Day will feature a quilt show. Come on out and see Chestnut Square’s collection of antique quilts along with other collectors’ quilts and quilting demonstrations. The Quilts will be displayed from 12:00 – 4:00 P.M. in the Bevel House at 405 Chestnut St.  All the usual Living History Days fun will happen!  Admission is free.
